Isabelle's Quilts: | ||||||||||||||||
Isabelle's first quilt was a little while in the making (we won't say
just how long), but she finally has nearly finished it and soon it will
reside on her bed. The next quilt, this adorable racoon quilt, began several
weeks ago. This whimsical "Racoon in the Window" quilt demonstrates
Isabelle's excellent sewing skills. Isabelle celebrates the (near) completion
of this lovely quilt with a fake beer (don't worry, we won't bring real
alcohol into the library!). Isabelle's latest contributions are the two beautiful baby quilts she just finished. Aren't they wonderful? For her newest family members! |

Shelley's Quilts: | ||||||||||||||||
Shelley is our most experienced quilter and as such, has been the greatest source of advice and knowledge. She's created some beautiful quilts both for her quilting company and now with QUIL. Above is her Harry Potter quilt (on display temporarily at the Morinville Public Library) created for her daughter and a log cabin quilt that has been an ongoing project. Like the rest of us, her log cabin quilt will reside on her bed when it is finished. Shelley tries to read everything she can about quilts and quilting techniques and puts us library staff to shame with her ability to find the best books available on this great topic.
Margaret's Quilts: | ||||||||||||||||
Margaret is an excellent sewer and has proven her abilities with her beautiful log cabin quilt and her next project, a nine patch quilt. Margaret's eye for detail and perfect stitching shows beautifully in her wonderful log cabin quilt. We have a picture of the back of her quilt to let people see just how pretty quilting can be.
Joanne's Quilts: | ||||||||||||||||
Joanne hadn't used a sewing machine in twenty five years, but when she went to the Morinville Farmer's Market and saw Shelley's quilts, she wanted to learn and Shelley was happy to teach. So began a new obsession and a new friendship between Shelley, Joanne, Margaret and Isabelle. Joanne belongs to a women's barbershop chorus and wanted to commemorate the choruses' new charter and with the help of QUIL, created the Heart Quilt for the Alberta Heartland Chorus. The Group and Group Projects:
Angel Pillow: Margaret was not feeling well
so to cheer her up we made her this angel pillow. We think it helped Dishes Quilt: Joanne was supposed to be moving to Morinville, so the girls began this quilt for her as a house warming quilt. Unfortunately the deal fell through, but Margaret, Isabelle and Shelley still made the quilt! We plan to do many more group projects, so check back frequently. Doggy Quilt: Isabelle, Margaret and Joanne worked on this quilt together as a surprise for Shelley who has taken some time off work. Shelley and her husband had just recently adopted an adorable and rambunctious pup called Harley and so what better quilt t create than to commemorate all the dogs in our lives? We've got Isabelle's Tia, Margaret's Pepper, Shelley's two: Harley and Tia (yes, Isabelle and Shelley both have a Tia) and one of these days Joanne will have a dog or two. We called this quilt simply the Doggy Quilt. Most of the dogs on the quilt have names, don't ask what they are - we can't always keep that straight but if you have any suggestions drop us a line. |
